Hello! My name is Emily Rhoades and I'm the owner/dyer of Distortion Fibers, a small indie yarn dyeing operation located in the Chicago suburbs.  Distortion Fibers offers high quality, modern, hand-dyed yarns in small batches.  I have a background in chemistry and business, and I'm grateful to be able to combine both of these things with my love of knitting & fiber. 

Distortion's color point of view can best be described as edgy & grungy - I love use amazing color combinations that make you feel good and comfortable.  I dye colors that I love and would reach for again and again.  I feature a wide range of dye techniques, and use high quality dyes and ethically sourced fiber bases.  I love using my lived experience (especially as a Gen X baby) to come up with colorways, names, and mini sets that spark a smile of recognition and nostalgia.
